FAM to Doha 2006
The latest news is that our football team will be in Doha for the Asian Games. As usual they do not qualify on merit but they are going to pay their own passage and will be reimbursed if they come back with a medal.
We all want to see Malaysia’s ranking in the world go up the ladder and if the team do not participate in any high class tournament how can they do that. FAM has tried with the recently concluded Merdeka Cup by inviting the higher ranked teams so that we can collect more points to improve the ranking. After the Merdeka Cup, I think the next opportunity for FAM to answer the fans call is the Asian Games in December. So let us hope our boys will deliver in Doha. However vwe curse our players and the FAM management, we must still stand behind them. Football is still the peoples game.
I would like to quote what Tony Mariadass wrote in Malaysian Today dated August 29-31 August 2006 “Predictions can be made, but there is no gaurantee in sports”

The Tram in Penang- Its History
Penang once had trams as a means of transport for the inslanders. The line ply in the city centre and I can remember had the opportunity to ride on when I was a little boy. It was electrically powered with overhead electrical cables vertically above the tram lines. I am not sure when the tram was stopped but its was an unfortunate move. Should it be retain, the tram can be one of the attraction for tourist. Just like on Kowloon Island, Tram still freey passengers across the island.

Venice Beach, LA
I visited Los Angeles in 2003 and stayed at Los Angeles Adventurer All Suite hotel. True as it says. Took the opportunity to visit Venice Beach since complimentary transport is provided daily to the beach. Venice Beach is one of the popular beaches in LA and once in a while we can watch it on TV. The serial Pacific Blue was shot on location here in Venice Beach.
Since the beach stretches for quite a distance, I rented a bicycle to travel along the trail constructed and cycle up to Santa Monica Beach.
Venice Beach, California is a desired destination for travelers from all over the world. It is unlike any place on Earth, well known for its artists, street performers and funky atmosphere. It is a virtual carnival running year round with free admission. This web site will always be a work in progress due to the constant input and creativity from Venice residents and visitors. Beca in Penang
I had written a blog about the thrishaw in Malay called beca in Malacca. There is not much different between both of them which was once a popular mode of transport. Its a three-wheeled vehicle powered by who else, human of course. Nowadays when mostly everybody have their own transport beside cheaper public transportation, the services of these trishaw peddlar is not much needed anymore. However their life must go on. They have families to support and must survive. So, now they turn the trishaw as a tourist attraction vehicle.
Not every city has trishaws. Even in Malaysia only a few towns still have them. Trishaw can still be found and in Penang, Alor Setar, Kelantan, Kangar, Kuala Terengganu and Malacca.
So, when in those towns in Malaysia, don’t miss the trishaw ride.

Pestabola Merdeka Edisi 23
Pestabola Merdeka Edisi ke 23 telah bermula pada 23 Ogos lalu dengan harapan pasukan negara akan merubah persepsi peminat terhadap mutu bolasepak negara dan juga memperbeiki ranking dalam senarai dunia. Semasa blog ini ditulis, ranking negara berada pada tangga 148 (ranking Ogos 2006). Jurulatih negara En. Norizan Bakar atau Cikgu Jan juga mengharapkan barisan di bawah pimpinannya akan dapat memberikan satu persembahan yang baik.
Dalam pestabola kali ini tiga lagi pasukan yang turut mengambil bahagian ialah Indonesia (146), Thailand (111) dan Myanmar (164). Jelas daripada ranking kesemua pasukan yang mengambil bahagian kali ini , Malaysia adalah yang paling corot. Terpulanglah pada Cikgu Jan dan anak-anak buahnya untuk membuktikan bahawa ranking itu tidak menunjukkan prestasi sebenar pasukan negara. Tidak dapat dipastikan mengapa tiga negara tersebut diundang dan bukannya negara lain yang lebih rendah rankingnya seperti Brunei(178), Laos (182) dan Kampuchea (184).
Kalau berdasarkan kriteria pengiraan untuk ranking, maka strategi FAM ialah untuk mengambil kira kekuatan pasukan lawan sebagai cara untuk menaikkan ranking negara. 
Setelah perlawanan diadakan maka hasilnya Malaysia seri dengan Indonesia 1-1, menang dengan Thailand 2-1 sementara kalah dengan Myanmar 2-1. Sema-samalah kita lihat apa kesannya hasil keputusan dalam Pestabola kali ini terhadap ranking pasukan negara untuk bulan September 2006.
Hasil dari Pestabola kali ini juga, sekali lagi peminat bolasepak negara keciwa kerana tidak dapat melihat pasukan negara memasukki perlawanan akhir dan seterusnya berpeluang menjulang Piala pada tahun ini.

Selamat Menyambut Hari Kebangsaan ke 49
Penang Rojak
If we speak about Penang and its food what comes in ones mind is nasi kandar. However there is more than nasi kandar when it comes to food in Penang. Pasembor is another must have if you visit Penang. Its a mixture of processed seafood including prawn balls, fish balls and cakes, crabs etc. It is topped up with grated cucumber, ‘sengkuang’, ‘kangkong’ and spread with nuts gravy. The taste is a mix of sweet and sour.

Community Sports
The Ministry of Youth and Sports effort to promote Community Sports League should be commended since its a positive effort to make sports a culture in Malaysia. Until sports become a culture only we have diverse talent at grassroot to be selected and train for high performance. However we hope this program is not another activity for political mileage. There must be follow-up so that the event is not a seasonal one just like sports in schools. Let us all hope this league is not another Rakan Sukan which was implemented a few years ago. Whenever a new minister hold the office he will come up with a new programme and forget out what has been done by the previous minister.
