The New National Jersey
As we had read in the paper and hear over the electronic media, FAM secured a new brand for the ational jersey and an new design. This time it is by Nike. Promotion to popularise the new design and colour has been going on and I found this at Bukit Bintang. Lets hope the new look will bring good luck to our national team and fulfill the vision of playing in the World Cup Finals.

Kuching – December 2006
In December I visited Kuching again. This time it’s just a two night stay since I have to proceed to Kota Kinabalu after that.
While in Kuching I stayed at the Holiday Inn, my first stay here.

Wan Mat Saman Canal -Kedah
The Wan Mat Saman Canal use to be an important waterway from Gunung Jerai to Sungai Kedah in Alor Setar. Of course it is not as popular as the Panama Canal or the St Lawrence Seaway in North America but it has contributed to part of the development of the Kedah plain especially along the canal and for irrigation of the paddy land.The canal or aquaduct was built in 1885 and named after Wan Mat Saman who was the Menteri Besar or Prime Minister of the Sultanate of Kedah during the reigns of Sultan Ahmad Tajuddin Mukarram Syah and Sultan Abdul Hamid Halim Syah.
According to my history teacher, the canal was mainly built at night because they can use gasoline lamp lined up in a straight row as a guide so that the canal is dug straight. If you travel along the Federal route 1 from Guar Cempedak to Alor Setar, you will realise that it runs parallel to the canal and the road is almost straight all the way.
However today the canal is in a neglected state and turned into monsoon drain and dumped with rubbish by irresponsible people.
However upon reaching the Alor Setar city, you can see that the canal has been ‘modified’ by constructing concrete walls which can turn the canal into something beautiful if the City Council of Alor Setar were to maintain its cleanliness.

Tonight the Honourable Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi will start the ball rolling for Visit Malaysia Year 2007. This event is to coincide with the 50th Anniversary of Malaysia’s Independence this year. Malaysia achieved independence in 1957.
Tasik Titiwangsa Kuala Lumpur will be the centre of attraction tonight for the launching ceremony and also the launching of much
publicised Eye of Malaysia where one can have a 360 degrees breathtaking view of Kuala Lumpur. See pictures here

Men Hockey Team Sacked
NST reports today that the men hockey team had been sacked for achieving 6th placing at the Doha Asian Games. They will be replaced with a fresh team comprising of juniors and will be under the charge of former national Sarjit Singh.
Its too early to conclude the outcome of PHM’s decision just like we never give hope to our young double shuttler who reaped gold in Doha. Let us give them time and let them prove that what we are thinking is wrong. For PHM its just like putting the head in the guliontine and pray for the team to do well and be pardoned.
