This is the most precious picture in Malaysian history because it marks the first day of independence. The picture showing the first Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tunku Abdul Rahmah Putra Al-Haj Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Abdul Hamid Halim Shah chanting out the word Merdeka followed by all those who were present at the Merdeka Stadium in Kuala Lumpur. The date was 31 August 1957.
This month of August Malaysia will be celebrating her 50th year of Independence and if you visit Malaysia this month and early September, you will be greeted with colourful events marking the joy of independence.
