On 11th July 1998, National Sports Complex was officiated by the then Prime Minister of Malaysia Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohammad (now Tun).
11th July 2008 the sports complex celebrated its 1oth anniversary. The celebration was officiated by Datuk Ismail Sabry, the Youth and Sports Minister ad a ceremony held at the Ampitheater Kompleks Sukan Negara. In conjunction with the anniversary celebration, a two day events is also being held within the complex compound.
