The Sports Commisioner drafted a proposal for some ammendments to be made to the Act. However OCM dry foul of the proposal fearing that the endorsement of it would restrict the freedom of national associations, which will eventually can affect the welfare of the atletes.

He said that one of the incredulous proposed amendments was under the part of “enforcement and investigation”, which allowed officers to enter the premises of a sports association without a warrant or notice and to seize and confiscate any document, assets and take over the association.

“And they can do this by merely having a reasonable cause to believe that the association concerned had breached any of the provisions of the Act. This is serious, which can put fear into the associations.” said Rajasingham.- The Star.
