Malaysia Mini Olimpik 2009 Launched

Youth and Sports Minister launched the inaugural Temasya Mini Olimpik Malaysia at NSC’s mini stadium in Bukit Jalil tonight in a simple reception. Athletes from eight sports namely Track and Field, Cycling, Archery, Gymnastics, Swimming, Badminton, Weight lifting and Shooting were present at the launching ceremony. This Mini Olimpik was mooted by participants during the National Sports Convention held in Kuala Lumpur in 2008 as an avenue for athletes from all levels irrespective of age limit to compete at the highest competition possible in the country. This is what makes it different from SUKMA which was tailored for young and upcoming athletes who will one day fill up the place of elite athletes.
