Kementerian Belia dan Sukan Malaysia through National Sports Institute will organise a Sports Industry Convention
at Berjaya Times Square in Kuala Lumpur on 7th and 8th August 2009. It will be identified as KISMAS 09
The main objective of the Convention is to generate sporting development as an industry in Malaysia professionally, organised, of quality, competent and beneficial to all parties involved directly or indirectly. It is also hoped that the masses will be encouraged to be involved actively in sports and recreation for the benefit of the nation.
Participation is by invitation only.
If there is an opportunity I hope to run a live blogging session during the convention.
The seminar was held at Sime Darby Convention Centre in Bukit Kiara and powered by 100 Plus. It was a half day seminar attended by participants from various institution that is sports related. This includes government agencies, Higher Education Institutions coaches and sports association.
The welcoming speech was adressed by Dato’ Kamal Harun, National Corporate Affairs Manager, F&N Coca Cola (M) Sdn. Bhd.
Four invited speakers presented their papers during the Seminar moderated by Dr Ahmad Munir bin Che Muhammad from University Malaya. The speakers are Prof Dr. Rabinderjeet Singh, Head of Healthy Lifestyle Cluster, Advanced Medical and Dental Institute, University Sains Malayia who presented a paper “The Importance of Hydration for Optimal Performance: When, What and How.
Dr. Jason Lee Kai Wei, Defense Scientist, Defence Science Organisation National Laboratories, Singapore tabled his paper ” The Eficacy Commercially of Available Sports Drinks in Improving Endurance Performance in a Warm and Humid Environment.
Ms. Chai Wen Jin, a Sports Nutritionist from Institut Sukan Negara, presented a hands on experience on Hydration Management for Indidivual and Team Sports citing Badminton and Field Hockey as an example.
The final speaker was Dr. Elizabeth Broad, Manager of Clinical Services, Nutrition Department, Australian Institute of Sports (AIS). She spoke on Ergonomic Aids In Sports Performance: Effectiveness, Legalities & Enhancement.
