KISMAS 09
The Sports Industry Convention 2009 (KISMAS 09) was officially by the Prime Minister today. The event at Berjaya Times Square is seen as a run up to the Malaysian Sports Industry Year 2011 which was also launched at the same time by the Prime Minister.
During the same occasion the Prime Minister also launched the Malaysian Sports Portal and can be reached HERE.
In his speech, PM stressed the six perspective of sports
- Sports for high performance
- Sports for National Unity
- Sports for Nation Building
- Sports for Healthy Lifestyle
- Sports Tourism
- Sports as an Industry.
Datuk Seri Mohd Najib also stressed that sports is one area that is recession proof. He cited two occasion to support his statement. The 1989 SEA Games and the 1998 Commonwealth Games was both organised during the rise of the recession but it was not hit hard like other areas.
