The event was held at Hotel Singgahsana in Petaling Jaya and about 200 bloggers attended the function. Local bloggers and some who came from Indonesia, Brunei and Cambodia made #SBB2013 a successful outing for the bloggers.

Attendees were treated to two mini forums where great names in Malaysian blogging fraternity share out their experience and tips to put their blogs as forerunners. Zarulumbrella, who is a blogger presented a few songs to entertain the crowd.

The first forum was moderated by Abangensem including a panel made up by beautifulnara, kujie2, noehas

A second mini forum was also held after a series of lucky draws and blog competition prize giving. This mini forum was moderated by broframestone with a panel consisting of CEO of amanz.my, yuyu zulaikha, and bang iwan from Indonesia.

Bloggers had a very fruitful evening to mingle among themselves and , they are celebrities in their own blogging world.

For me this #SBB2013 is another new experience to be part of a successful blogger meetup and consisting of totally Malay bloggers. I did attended another biennial blogger meetup organised by the Chinese blogging communities, blogfest.asia in 2010 in Penang.

Towards the final hours of the event, there was a talk calling Malaysians bloggers to do their bit as bloggers to open up minds of the people of the world about the plight of Palestinians in Gaza.  A donation box was passed around to. During the small presentation, some well known bloggers were elected as Official Blogger for Gaza.

Tuan Haji Amir Hassan, the founder of denaihati also launched denaihati’s new product, Denaihati TV.

I was actually twice lucky at this #SBB2013. I knew about the event one day after the closing date for entries. However I sent a Facebook message to one of the organisers and was told that no more application will be entertained. About an hour later I received a message through Facebook that I can attend the function after another blogger pulled out.

During #SBB2013 I had another lucky star shining on me when I won a iPad Mini during the lucky draw. So, you never know that you are a lucky person if you give up way too early.

To staff and members of denaihati team and volunteers hats off and kudos to all of you. A effort in line with Prophet Muhammad’s sunnah, promoting silatilrahim. I am looking forward to future events of such kind.

Habits Die Hard

I was in a sardine pack monorail from Bukit Bintang station to Hang Tuah. It was already the second monorail that came after I can’t board the previous because it was really packed. Luckily I was already at the front of the line and manage to enter after being squeezed by commuters from behind. At least at Bukit Bintang station there are security personnel on duty to check commuters boarding the monorail.

At Imbi station it was worst, commuter just pushed in and squeezing those already inside the train. Where is the security to manage the crowd. Bukit Bintang and Imbi are two of the stations that has heavy traffic especially after office and shops closes.

When the monorail reaches Hang Tuah station, its the reverse. Commuters from inside starts pushing to get out. They can’t even be patient because not only them are going to disembark. Other in front of them too are going.

This pushing habit has been a habit among commuters. They can’t event wait for a few seconds.

Its habit die hard.

Entering 2013 With #SBB2013

It has been a bit slow for me and now it is already reaching the end of January. My blogging activity doesn’t seem to kick of to a faster pace.

All of a sudden an email prompted me to click and log in to my Facebook account mentioning about a blogger event “Sepetang Bersama Blogger” or #SBB2013. It will be organised by Denaihati. com. This will be my first appointment with them.

A bit too late because it has passed the closing date. However I tried my luck to inquire whether i can still register. The first response was “sorry, closed” Well, it not be my fortune to be part of the event.

After lunch, I check my FB inbox and found that my request had been approved due to another earlier participant couldn’t make it to the event. So, I sent in my particulars and will be attending the event after all.

Such event is a place for young, new and aspiring bloggers to meet and get to know experience bloggers, famous bloggers, well-known bloggers and learn from their experience. It is also an opportunity to widen your network because opportunities in blogging depends much on networking.

I learn it through experience. If you had been reading blogs about bloggers attending events and walk away with doorgifts and souvenirs, it means those bloggers get invited by friends. If you do not have friends (and I mean good friends) chances of your being invited is as good as zero.

Another factor getting invites is traffic. You must build traffic so that event organisers might trip upon your blog while searching for blogs. More traffic means wider market for them.

End Of The Road For Xperienceoflife

I received an unexpected email from Blogger with the following subject, Blogger blog takedown notification – http://xperienceoflife.blogspot.com/

The blog that I had been managing since March 2006 was forced by Blogger to go off public. That means its only me will be able to read the archives.

I will not appeal Blogger to revert their action but will not create new blog using blogger and will now switch to WordPress. They think that they are giving free lunch to bloggers, they can do anything to them.

This WordPress blog is a paid site and I hope it will not face the same problem as blogger blogs.

However I still have a few more blogs on Blogger and if they take down one by one let them do it.

Forget 2012, We Look Forward To 2013

Time has turn a new leaf. 2013 had left us with memories good and bad.

What hurts us sport fans was that we fail to net our first Olympic Gold and has to wait another four years to fulfill our dreams.

Then our football squad fail to defend the AFF Suzuki Cup they won in 2010 and what hurts us most was that they were beaten by Singapore which on paper it will not happen.

Lets hope 2013 will a better hope for our athletes and sports. Our athletes need all our support win or loose. This year might not have major sporting events for our senior athletes but 2013 will close with the SEA Games in Myanmar, the most prestigious sporting event for the region.
