So you are a social coffee drinker? Or a coffee addict?

If you are a social coffee drinker what type of coffee to you go for? Just any coffee on the supermarket shelf or choose certain brew?

Arabica Coffee that has been the basis of most coffee in the market, you might have heard of the famous Sumatran Kopi Luwak. The coffee was pounded from coffee beans that has been consumed  and excreted by civets.

Now there is also another type of coffee derived by the same process but instead of Asian Palm Civet, its the elephants. Its called the Black Ivory Coffee.

Coffee is getting competitive. With a growing coffee trend for the unique and offbeat, restaurants are looking for the newest flavors and boldest methods of brewing to keep guests coming. The rarest beans currently bring in $1,100 per kilogram, so what sets them apart from any others? Dung.

Black Ivory Coffee at $50 a cup has been the most expensive coffee in the market. It beats Kopi Luwak. This coffee was first introduced in Northern Thailand and then Maldives and followed by Abu Dhabi.

To create Black Ivory Coffee, the coffee berries are fed to elephants in their daily feeds. The enzymatic process of digestion, proteins within the coffee cherries are broken down, creating a less bitter, more pleasurable taste. The bananas and sugar cane give the coffee a fruity flavor.

The new product was created by

Canadian entrepreneur, Blake Dinkinten after years of research and a $300,000 investment. The company is located in Chiang Saen, Thailand where mahouts (elephant riders) and their wives feed and collect the coffee cherries.
